Exclusive Interview with Seydina M. Ndiaye, President of the Senegalese Association for AI

Seydina Moussa Ndiaye is a senior lecturer at the Cheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University (Senegal), where he also directs the FORCE-N program. As a researcher, he is the principal investigator of the multidisciplinary ALIVE program (AI Living Lab for Innovation and Viable Ethical Policies and Systems).

At the national level, he supports the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation by leading the digital transformation of Senegal’s higher education system. Seydina coordinated the acquisition of Senegal’s TAOUEY supercomputer. He is a member of several bodies, including the National Cryptology Commission, the Steering Committee of the Digital Technology Park project (PTN), and the Board of Directors of SENUM SA. He also serves as President of the Senegalese Association for AI. Seydina has advised the Senegalese government in conceptualizing national AI and data strategies.

He is an expert with the African Union on drafting the Pan-African AI White Paper and with the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI). He was a member of the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on AI (dissolved in October 2024) and currently serves on UNESCO’s High-Level Expert Group on AI Governance at the ecosystem level.

Seydina holds a PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence (Paul Sabatier University) and an MBA (IAE Paris Sorbonne).
